JCI Operation Hope: Aiding Recovery in Haiti

Date: Saturday 16th January, 2010

JCI is coordinating aid with both the United Nations and members of JCI Dominican Republic.

Through JCI Operation Hope, JCI Members can reach across the globe to expand this recovery initiative by committing to providing resources for sustainable recovery in Haiti.

During the January Board Meeting at JCI World Headquarters, the Executive Committee pledged to provide aid to Haiti and asks members to help by donating money to JCI Operation Hope.

“As you can imagine, Haiti is in a very difficult situation,” said JCI Haiti National President Marie-Lynn Thomas.

“The JCI Haiti office was destroyed in the earthquake and we are attempting to make contact with all of our JCI Haiti members, but communication is nearly impossible and even the most essential resources like water are scarce. We are grateful to have a generous international community and ask for any support you can provide.”

One of the principle values of JCI is the belief that the brotherhood of man transcends the sovereignty of nations.

The duty to assist rests upon JCI Members from around the world. Donations of support can be sent via the JCI Operation Hope Web site.

Operation Hope was established in 2005 to promote and coordinate relief efforts worldwide and all funds are used to assist the victims of recent natural disasters.
